The Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) granted a Registration Certificate, a Standard Airworthiness Certificate and an Aircraft Radio Station License to the first ARJ21 jet of Chengdu Airlines (EU) on Nov. 29, paving the way for the China-made aircraft to enter service.

Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China (COMAC) delivered the first ever home-grown regional jet ARJ21-700 to the Chengdu-based carrier on Nov. 29, marking a major breakthrough in the nation's aviation industry. The CAAC issued the certificates to the ARJ21-700 and signed a continuous operation safety and cooperation agreement with COMAC at the delivery ceremony.

According to the Civil Aviation Law of the People's Republic of China, an aircraft has to obtain its Registration Certificate, Standard Airworthiness Certificate and Aircraft Radio Station License from the CAAC before putting into service.

The ARJ21-700, dubbed the "Flying Phoenix," will enter service after three months of trial operations. The aircraft will be officially put into commercial service in the first quarter of 2016 and will initially operate domestic routes from Chengdu to Beijing and Shanghai.
